Join the U.S. Commercial Service for an upcoming virtual Coffee Chat highlighting renewable energy business opportunities for U.S. companies. The July 28 session will focus on Colombia and Costa Rica and will include market observations, business opportunities, and highlights within the industry from the newly released 2021 Energy Export Resource Guides.

Why Colombia?
In October 2019, Colombia's Mining and Energy Planning Unit (UPME) awarded contracts for nine wind and five solar projects, worth an estimated USD$2.2 billion. The developers will sign a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for 1.36 GW of wind and solar capacity due to be commissioned by 2022. The projects will contribute to the country's aim generate 2.5 GW of solar, wind and biomass energy by 2022.

Why Costa Rica?
Currently, Costa Rica generates less than 1% of its energy production using solar power. The rest of the production is 79% Hydro, 12% Wind and 8% Geothermal. The final users of solar equipment are found in the residential, commercial, utility and in a lesser degree off-grid mostly in the inaccessible mountains and Cocos Island.
